Bole: The Modern Hub

Kazanchis: Business and Culture

Just north of Bole, Kazanchis mixes business hotels and offices with some of the city’s best-known traditional music venues — the azmari bet houses covered in our nightlife guide.

Piazza: Historic Addis Ababa

Piazza is the city’s oldest district, with Italian colonial-era architecture and a more historic, old-town feel. It’s a worthwhile stop for a few hours even if you’re not staying there.

CMC and Old Airport: A Quieter Pace

Further from the center, CMC and Old Airport are largely residential, with a slower pace and fewer tourist-facing venues — a reasonable choice if you’d rather stay somewhere quiet and take rides into Bole when you want to go out.
